RIATEN Privacy Notice
Version: 11 October 2026
This page applies to the email subscription form on riaten.com.
In short
For the teaser subscription, RIATEN asks only for your email address.
We use it to:
- verify the address through Double Opt-In;
- send the RIATEN updates you requested;
- process unsubscribe requests;
- protect the form and service against abuse.
We do not ask for your name, phone number, date of birth or payment data, and we do not sell the subscriber list.
Controller
Controller: Radzu LLC (Общество с ограниченной ответственностью «Радзу»), a limited liability company established in the Russian Federation, registration number (OGRN) 1267700338135, tax ID (INN) 7736379729.
Privacy contact: privacy@riaten.com.
The controller is established in the Russian Federation. No representative in the European Union has been designated: the processing is occasional, does not include special categories of data and is unlikely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms (Article 27(2)(a) GDPR).
Data we keep
- email;
- subscription language;
- consent text version;
- form submission timestamp;
- Double Opt-In confirmation status and timestamp;
- unsubscribe status.
Limited technical request data may be processed where necessary to protect the service against abuse and security threats.
Email updates consent
By selecting the email-updates checkbox and then confirming your address through Double Opt-In, you consent to receive RIATEN emails about:
- the first and newly published chapters;
- new RIATEN books or releases;
- illustrations and important project updates.
You can withdraw this consent at any time using the Unsubscribe link in any RIATEN email or by contacting privacy@riaten.com.
Legal bases
For managing the subscription and sending email updates, we rely on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
For narrowly limited security/abuse-prevention processing, we may rely on our legitimate interests in protecting the service and infrastructure. We do not use legitimate interests to send marketing emails.
How subscription works
- You enter your email.
- You actively select the email-updates consent checkbox.
- We send a Double Opt-In confirmation email.
- The subscription becomes active only after the confirmation link is used.
Service providers
At teaser stage:
- the EU subscription endpoint (form intake), the EN subscriber list, Double Opt-In and email delivery run on our own mailing system (listmonk) on a server hosted by vdsina.com in Amsterdam, the Netherlands; no third-party mailing service is involved.
The EN list is not automatically copied into the RU mailing system.
International transfers
Subscriber data for the English version is stored in the EU/EEA (the subscription endpoint and the mailing system in the Netherlands).
The controller is established in the Russian Federation, a country for which the European Commission has not adopted an adequacy decision, and accesses the subscriber list from there in order to run the subscription you requested. This access is a transfer of your email address and subscription data outside the EEA. It is limited to what is needed to operate the subscription, is made under the safeguards described in "Security", and relies on Article 49(1)(b) GDPR (necessary for the performance of the subscription you requested) and, as applicable, on your explicit consent given when subscribing (Article 49(1)(a)). You can withdraw the subscription at any time, after which no further access takes place beyond honouring the opt-out.
If another transfer mechanism is introduced later, this Notice will be updated.
Retention
- unconfirmed Double Opt-In requests are deleted or anonymised within 30 days;
- active subscriber data is kept while the subscription remains active;
- unsubscribed addresses are removed from active mailing;
- a minimal suppression/consent record may be retained only as long as necessary to honour the opt-out, comply with law or handle legal claims.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your data, receive data portability where applicable, withdraw consent and object to direct marketing at any time.
Privacy requests: privacy@riaten.com.
You may also lodge a complaint with a competent EEA data-protection supervisory authority.
Cookies and analytics
At teaser stage, RIATEN does not use advertising cookies, advertising pixels, session replay, fingerprinting or heatmaps.
A language preference may be stored locally in your browser (in localStorage and in a `lang` cookie used only so that the home page opens the right language version; it is not shared with third parties).
If non-essential tracking technologies are introduced later, the relevant information and consent controls will be added before they are enabled.
Security
We use HTTPS/TLS, server-side API credentials, access controls, rate limiting and email minimisation in logs.
